Since 2000 I have recorded more than 1,800 songs, stories, poems, and soundscapes at Rainbow Gatherings across North America, Panama, Mexico, and New Zealand. Twenty-nine compilations in all, shared freely and freely shared. Deep thanks to everyone who offered their voice and their music.
This is the compendium. An 8 x 10 hardcover, illustrated throughout, with every compilation in the order it was made, its cover art, and liner notes inspired by the newsreel style of Harry Smith’s handbook to the Anthology of American Folk Music.
“THREE DAY BLIZZARD ARRIVES IN THE THIRD WEEK OF JUNE AT NINE THOUSAND FEET. CRICKETS RECEIVE BILLING. PERSON NAMED BEAR ADVISES WALKING ONE’S OWN ROAD.”
Over the years, listeners have sent kind words, cards, notes, and artwork, telling me what these recordings have meant to them. Thank you for every one of those gestures.
The recordings remain free, and always will be. Stream them, download one, or take the whole shebang at once. The book is the part you can hold and flip through, a trailhead back into the archive. A free PDF will be available when I get ‘roundtoit.
